COVID has changed our lives in many different ways. Some homeowners are now working from home permanently and are rethinking how they want to remodel their homes, especially their countertops. Because of that, Progressive Dimensions is seeing design trends that we’d like to share with you.

 

For about a decade, white on white or white with gray kitchens have dominated the industry but now we’re starting to see customers wanting to bring nature and its colors indoors by asking for quartz countertops with pops of cool blues and warm sandy hues. Many homeowners are choosing quartz or engineered stone because it gives you the beauty of natural stone with the added benefit of being highly hygienic. Calacatta Mirragio Cielo delivers those ocean blues and Empire Gold brings in rays of sunshine. Progressive recommends a matching high backsplash to add more character.  Pure white cabinets will always be popular but now some are choosing creamy off white instead. Nautical blue in cabinets is also gaining traction with handleless doors to create a simpler, more streamlined look or you can use interesting hardware to enhance your vision.

 

If you’ve started to bake while in lockdown then marble makes the perfect countertop.  Not only because it stays cool while you are working with dough but also has gorgeous movement that elevates your kitchen with saturated color.

Calacatta Luccia Is All The “Greige”

The Countertop Store eileen Calacatta Luccia is a gorgeous quartz color from MSI. Calacatta is popular because it looks like marble without worrying about stains and scratches.  What it does have is dramatic veining in “greige,” which is my way to describe the beautiful blending of gray and beige on a creamy, white background. I like using it as statement pieces like island waterfalls or other contemporary designs like shower walls or tub surrounds. Wood cabinets are trending now and when paired with Calacuttta Luccia it gives you that warm cozy feeling. The Honed Finish

For homeowners who want to try something different in countertop design, Progressive Dimensions now offers honed finish. Honed granite is natural stone that is unpolished or matte (low-gloss shine). This finish has been creating quite a buzz over the past few years and here’s why: 1) When you run your palms along the surface, it’s soft and cool to the touch 2) If you’re looking for a relaxed look with visual appeal, honed granite is the perfect choice 3) Honed granite is non-reflective and, as a result, hides, scratches, etching and other imperfections better than polished granite 4)Honed granite is available in a wide range of colors. The grays, blacks, and off-whites are the most popular.

Everything and the Kitchen Sink!

If you’re renovating your kitchen or bathroom, I see a sink in your future. Sinks add character to your ideal design. Sure, there are many sinks out there. But don’t worry, we have a nice selection on display in our showroom. If you’d rather buy your own sink, that’s ok too. Just have it on hand when they come to do the template.

Let’s start with the Model #908, which is stainless steel, like all of the sinks that I will talk about from here on in. They are also all undermount sinks, which is pretty standard. The #908 is the “ go to” sink because it’s nice and deep, coming in at 9” deep. It’s also easy to keep clean.

The #508 Model is called a “D” Bowl because it looks like the letter D when you look at it sideways. With this sink, you have a bigger soaking area, which means that you could put bigger pots and pans. Just a side note: the faucet needs to be drilled on the right or left side because of its unique shape.

The #408 or Jumbo sink is like the #908 but bigger and 8” deep. That brings us to the #308, which is the same as the Jumbo sink but is divided 70/30. It is also called a vegetable because it allows you to separate your food.

The #208 Model splits the sink in two. It’s called the 50/50 and is 9” deep.

The Farmhouse Sink is trending now. It is fabricated in an 18” gauge stainless steel and has a stainless steel apron.

Vanities are usually made of porcelain. We have an 18 by 12” rectangular undermount sink in white or bisque and an oval vanity, same measurements and color options. The oval is 61/2” deep and the rectangle is 6” deep.

Like I said, there are a lot of sinks out there. It all boils down to visualizing how your kitchen sink will increase productivity while achieving the “look” you desire.

Keep in mind, sinks don’t just stop there. We carry bar sinks and other special order custom sinks, that can take you to the limits when complimenting your project.

Our Kitchen Designer, Roger, has been designing custom kitchens for nearly 30 years and has a passion for creating a space that offers both form and function for all of his clients.

 

Our process makes your kitchen design experience simple and easy. We start with an initial consultation at one of our locations or in the comfort of your home. During this meeting, Roger will get to know what your needs and wants are for your space, as well as, your style and budget. With all of the necessary information and a quick measure, Roger can begin to transform your kitchen.

 

In a few days, you will be given a 3D layout of your design, which can be adjusted, as needed, until everything is perfect for you and your family. Once your layout is approved and we have placed your custom order, the fun of picking out your countertops in our Manahawkin or Toms River location will begin!

  • There are a limited number of appointments per day, so please be as punctual as possible. If a prior appointment is still waiting to exit, please wait in your car until your appointment time and we will call you in.

    It looks like many of us will have to change the way we do business and start working from home. Having a space designated for this will help you look forward to each day and promote a productive workflow.
